My first data illustration project. The initial concept compared a pipeline's length to bus stops, but the reference point was too abstract to communicate scale effectively. From the second draft onward, I anchored the comparison to the Story Bridge — a local landmark with a concrete length of 1,072 m, approximately one-third of the pipeline. The familiar reference made the scale immediately legible to a Brisbane audience.

The final layout leads with the key message at the top, with the illustration simplified to support a clear, natural reading flow.
